Linda Thomas bio

Linda Thomas

Linda Thomas grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin; initially attended college in Oregon and has lived in Seattle since 1978. She has taught art and art history in Seattle area colleges for over 20 years. She earned M.A. and B.A. degrees in Art History from the University of Oregon and M.F.A. and B.F.A. degrees from the University of Washington where she studied painting and printmaking. She is currently on the faculty at Bellevue College where she teaches courses in studio art. Her art has been in national and local exhibits including the Frye Art Museum, the Portland Art Museum, and the NW Annual.

She has produced several on-site drawing projects and an outdoor billboard installation, Billboard Baby: On Time, seen in Seattle in 2004. Thomas is the recipient of numerous awards including Artist Trust GAP grants, the Samuel H. Kress Foundation Grant and was recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award for Arts and Humanities programs by UW Educational Outreach in 2005. She was selected to teach in Florence, Italy in 2007 and has previously taught at the University of Washington, Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle Central Community College and Pratt Fine Arts Center.
